Ece Clarke’s print work reflects her experience of micro and macro fractals, as well as artefacts created in ancient history. Her non-representational works build on her exploration of nature, physics, philosophy and the harmonies within such disciplines, Ece’s work captures the underlying rhythms and harmonies that she finds there.

Ece Clarke’s recent work draws on the relief images found in the last 30 years on megaliths at Göbekli Tepe, an archaeological site in Southeast Türkiye dating from around 10,000 BCE. The stones have images of powerful or cunning animals in movement: lions, foxes, scorpions, snakes, bulls, cranes and ducks. As she studied the images, Ece felt a strong connection with the artists who crafted them. Looking back in time as an artist, she realised that there are echos of these images that continue to resonate down through history to today. Ece decided to lift the forms into new art works, changing their context and using different materials and techniques, but respecting the form given to them by our prehistoric forebears.
